The founder.

Jacob Ochs is the founder of Marketing by Magnet. He's a United States Marine Corps veteran and a former Boeing employee — before he was running ad campaigns and building websites, he was turning wrenches on military aircraft.

He started Marketing by Magnet in St. Louis, MO after watching too many small business owners pay agencies thousands of dollars a month for reports instead of results. The premise was simple: build the site, run the ads, shoot the video, ship the work — and charge like a small business can actually afford it.

Today he runs the agency, writes most of the code behind Magnet Pro, and still talks to new clients himself. If you book a call with Magnet, you're talking to him.

How we work.

A few ground rules we run the business by.

Revenue first. Impressions, likes, and "reach" don't pay rent. Every engagement has a dollar-based goal we track against.

Direct access. No account managers between you and the person doing the work. You'll be in a group chat with the designer, the editor, and the ads buyer.

Month-to-month. No 12-month agency contracts. If we're not earning our keep, fire us.

US team. Design, code, video, ads — handled in-house. We don't ship your brand to a content farm overseas.

Software, not just services. We build tools for our own clients first (Magnet Pro started that way), then ship them to the public.
