BigCommerce Spent Years Marketing Against Transaction Fees. In June It Added One.

• Plans renamed: Standard, Plus and Pro became Core ($29/mo annual), Growth ($79) and Scale ($299). Base prices unchanged, which is where the good news ends.
• GMV caps were cut roughly in half. Core: $50K down to $30K. Growth: $180K down to $100K. Same revenue, forced tier upgrades.
• A new 2 percent "Open Payment Provider Fee" now applies when you use an outside payment processor, the exact fee structure BigCommerce spent years positioning itself against.
• The changes were published at a /dm/ URL not linked from the main site's navigation, which merchants noticed, loudly.

The math that stings: a $150K-GMV store that paid $79/mo on the old Plus plan now lands on Scale at $299/mo under the new caps. That is a 278 percent increase announced on a page you had to know to look for.
