Wix's biggest AI release yet redesigned the editor. The policy that matters most to owners, taking your site with you when you leave, did not change.
What happened
In January 2026 Wix launched Harmony, a ground-up AI editing experience and its largest product bet of the year. The demos are genuinely impressive: conversational editing, AI page generation, automated design systems.
What did not happen
Export. A Wix site still cannot leave Wix: cancel and the site is gone, with media hosted on Wix's CDN going with it. Harmony makes staying more pleasant; it does nothing about the locked door, and the pricing ladder (Core $29, Business $36, Business Elite $159 at July 2026 rates) still rides on that lock.
Our position, disclosed bias and all: AI editing is table stakes now. The question that separates platforms in 2026 is what happens when you want out. That is a question you should ask before the first draft, not after the third renewal.
